Young Adults Ministry for the 18 – 40 year olds in our parish – married or single.


Our Lady of the Snows is implementing the following new ministries for Young Adults - starting June, 2010.  Please contact Eugene Gasataya at 348-1516 or ya@olsparish.com if you are interested in participating in any of these activities, or if you’d like to be a part of the new Young Adults Leadership Team:

Prayer Shawl ministry

• Intentional ministry to distribute prayer shawls to the homebound in our parish.  The goal is to find a "sponsor" for each of our senior citizens residing in a facility for the elderly. The sponsor would adopt an individual (or group) and keep in contact with the homebound resident(s) on a monthly basis - either by phone call, letter, or personal visit.  We also have people who are knitting/crocheting prayer shawls on an ongoing basis. 

Weekly Social

• We would like to invite all our young adults to meet the singles and those married in our parish and beyond.  For starters we will have a potluck at the Lifehouse at 1050 Humboldt.  We have the Lifehouse available Saturdays at noon.  Future gatherings can be set up in a ballpark or whatever location and event the group decides to do.

 
Small Community Faith Sharing and Individual Reflection

• This is a summer program similar to the "Why Catholic?" offered to the entire diocese by the Renew International.  It is a 6 - 7 week series using Renew International materials for Young Adult small groups.  If you are a facilitator or have attended a " Why Catholic?"  group, you will enjoy the weekly series because of its similarity.  We will meet Saturdays from 2pm-3pm(time is negotiable) starting on June 26, 2010.   There will be three topics to choose from.  The Lifehouse at 1050 Humboldt is available; but we could also meet at individuals’ homes for the meeting, if anyone would like to offer their home.

 Theology on Tap

• Starting in August- more details to follow.  We have some great speakers committed to this ministry.

Existing Ongoing Young Adult Ministries:

Athletics

1. Taking sign-ups for the OLS Falcons (2010 second season) novice co-ed softball team that plays on Friday nights.  Entry fee is $35.
2. Taking sign-ups for indoor volleyball playing twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. (Summer 2010).  Entry fee is $25.  Uniforms will be ordered soon

Adoration

• Once a month.  Come join us for the next one on Tuesday June 23, 2010, from 7:00-8:00pm at the church.  Spend an hour with our Lord in quiet, prayer meditations, rosary, & music. 

Praise and Worship

• If you enjoy singing and listening to contemporary Christian songs at K-LOVE  101.7 FM, this one is for you!!!  Come and join us in this concert type music ministry. Our next Praise & Worship night in the Church is July 27, 2010, at 7:00 p.m.
