Catholic Religious Education (CRE) is offered to all Catholic children who attend public schools. We expect children to attend CRE every year until they are confirmed (or thru their sophomore year of high school).

CRE is offered during 9:30 Mass for three, four, and five year olds (pre-K). The children hear and discuss Bible stories, sing, and have creative activities. We call this part of our program Little Church. Before Mass begins, their parents take them to the first grade classroom at the school. They are picked up by their parents immediately after Mass ends.

Kindergarteners through sixth graders may attend CRE on Sunday mornings [10:45 - 12:00], Tuesday afternoons [4:00 - 5:00], or Wednesday afternoons [3:34 - 4:45], space permitting. They have class in the school, always beginning downstairs in the lunchroom. Snacks are free and available up to 5 minutes before class begins.

Middle school CRE is offered on Monday evenings, 7:00 - 8:15 pm at the Parish Center. [Use the doors on Arlington Street].

CRE is focused on assisting parents with the spiritual development of their children. Materials for Kindergarten through fourth grade utilize the Sunday readings to connect Gospel values to today's concerns. That series is published by Pflaum. Fifth-Eighth grades utilize more academic materials, published by Loyola Press.

Home Study, using these same materials, is an option for those who need it.

Registration is held after all Masses on the last weekend in August. After that parishioners may download the registration form from the parish website and bring it to the office or mail it in; or they may fill out a form at the parish office [M-F, 8:30-4:30] or they may get a registration form from the church vestibule after Mass.

All classes rely on volunteers who receive training and curriculum. Our goal is to have two catechists [teachers of the faith] in every classroom. This is a very rewarding ministry, and helps adults grow in their faith.
